Training Course Terms & Conditions
Last reviewed: 9 October 2026 · 1st Step Consulting Ltd trading as Immigration Visa Expert
Provider and scope
These Training Course Terms and Conditions apply to training and examination-preparation products sold by 1st Step Consulting Ltd trading as Immigration Visa Expert (the Provider, we, us or our) through https://immigrationvisaexpert.com/, including instructor-led IAA Level 1 training, weekend intensive courses, one-day examination preparation and MCQ or mock-test digital resources. They do not themselves form an engagement for regulated immigration advice.
Please review the product description, intake date, delivery mode, inclusions, price, access period and cancellation information displayed at checkout. The order confirmation and any expressly agreed course-specific terms complete the contract, subject to applicable consumer law.
1. Independent training; no government or IAA affiliation
Our courses are independent private educational offerings. Unless expressly and accurately stated otherwise, they are not operated, accredited, sponsored or approved by the Immigration Advice Authority, UKVI, the Home Office or any official examination body. Completion does not confer IAA authorisation, professional registration, a qualification issued by the IAA or permission to give regulated immigration advice.
Assessment content, official registration, examination dates and pass criteria are controlled by the relevant regulator. We do not guarantee that a learner will pass an assessment, obtain IAA registration or secure employment. Learners should consult the current official syllabus, rules and guidance.
2. Course types and included services
Live instructor-led programme: ordinarily a structured 15-week series of online teaching sessions and specified learner resources. Weekend intensive: a short live online programme on the published Saturday–Sunday dates. One-day intensive: a single live online examination-focused workshop. MCQ practice: an on-demand digital practice subscription with the features and access period stated on its individual product page.
The exact current prices, dates, lesson length, included exercises, mock tests, downloadable materials and technical requirements are the details prominently communicated at checkout and confirmed in the order; information on older archived pages may not reflect current offerings. Additional courses, external examinations, assessments, official IAA fees or separate one-to-one coaching are not included unless explicitly stated.
3. Eligibility and learner responsibility
Learners should consider their existing knowledge, assessment stage, language abilities, equipment, connection reliability and availability before enrolling. The Provider may describe recommended entry-level knowledge but cannot guarantee course suitability to every individual. Learners are responsible for attending, engaging, completing optional exercises and checking relevant regulator requirements.
All communications and behaviour in live classes and learner forums must remain professional and respectful. Unauthorised recording, impersonation, sharing answers in a manner that compromises assessments, harassment or serious misuse may lead to proportionate restrictions or termination following reasonable notice where appropriate.
4. Registration, payment and confirmation
An order is accepted when we send confirmation identifying the selected product and access or joining arrangements. Prices are stated before payment, including VAT treatment and compulsory costs where applicable. We do not impose hidden fees. The person buying on behalf of an organisation must have authority to place that order.
All invoices and receipts are issued by 1st Step Consulting Ltd; this is the legal bank-account name notwithstanding the Immigration Visa Expert brand. We may undertake proportionate anti-fraud verification and may refuse fraudulent or unlawful orders.
5. Live-class scheduling and attendance
Published course sessions ordinarily take place online at the confirmed UK time. We may make reasonable changes to the trainer, teaching sequence or minor timetable details without undermining the essential course value. We will give appropriate notice. For material cancellation, postponement or inability to supply the contracted course, the learner will be offered a lawful remedy, such as a suitable alternative or a refund where due.
Live attendance requirements, course replays, downloadable notes and absence arrangements will be stated in the individual course description or confirmation. Unless expressly included, missed sessions do not automatically create an entitlement to bespoke
replacement tuition. We will consider reasonable accessibility adjustments and documented exceptional circumstances fairly.
6. MCQ digital access and renewals
Where the purchased MCQ product is described as a six-month subscription, access runs for six months from the activation date specified at purchase, subject to platform availability, agreed licence limits and statutory rights. Practice attempts may be unlimited within that valid access period if expressly advertised for the selected product.
The subscription is a fixed-term licence and does not automatically renew unless an automatic recurring arrangement is separately and transparently offered and affirmatively accepted. Where a renewal offer is advertised at 50% of the then-applicable price, that benefit applies only as specified in the written offer; no renewal or charge occurs without the required authority. Any future recurring subscription model will be reviewed against applicable consumer subscription rules before launch.
7. Consumer cancellation: live training and services
Where the course is a distance service contract to which the Consumer Contracts Regulations apply, an individual consumer normally has 14 calendar days after the contract is made to cancel. If the learner expressly requests live tuition or another service to begin during that period and then lawfully cancels, a proportionate amount for the service actually provided may be payable if the legal conditions are satisfied.
For services fully performed within the cancellation period after the required express request and acknowledgement, the right to cancel that completed service may be lost. We will supply the necessary pre-contract information and do not impose a blanket no-refunds term. Any statutory exemption will apply only where it genuinely covers the purchased product.
8. Consumer cancellation: digital resources
Digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, such as downloadable MCQs or immediate practice access, may be supplied before the end of the usual 14-day cancellation period only after the legally required express consent and acknowledgement that the cancellation right will be lost when supply begins, together with the necessary confirmation.
If that consent, acknowledgement or required confirmation is missing, the consumer may retain rights under the Regulations and may not be charged for the digital content supplied during the cooling-off period, as the law requires. Digital access being technically available does not by itself override statutory rights.
9. After the cooling-off period: transfers and refunds
Where the statutory cancellation right has expired or been lawfully lost, a learner may request a change of intake or another discretionary accommodation. We may offer one reasonable date transfer if teaching capacity and timing permit, but this is not a guaranteed entitlement and any agreed administrative charge must be disclosed, fair and lawful.
Refunds for a change of mind after lawful cancellation rights have ended are not automatic. However, where the Provider cancels the course, fails to deliver the agreed service, supplies non-conforming digital content, or otherwise breaches consumer rights, the statutory and contractual remedies remain fully available. We may agree an additional goodwill refund at our discretion.
10. Intellectual property and licence
Course notes, recorded lessons, worksheets, our original MCQs, answer explanations, presentation slides, teaching methods and associated resources remain our intellectual property or are used under licence. The learner receives a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the purchased materials for their own study during the stated access period.
Unless we consent in writing or an applicable legal exception permits it, learners must not share logins, record or retransmit live sessions, reproduce or resell question banks, upload substantial content to public websites, use materials to train or fine-tune external AI models, or circulate resources within a company as a multi-user licence. Any business or cohort use requires an appropriate licence.
11. Third-party materials and official examination resources
Official IAA publications and other government materials remain subject to their own applicable reuse terms. Third-party copyrights, trademarks and official assessment content remain with their respective owners. References to assessment structures are provided for learning and may change. We do not claim access to confidential current examinations or guarantee any practice paper will replicate an official assessment.
12. Technology, access and support
Learners should use a supported browser, stable internet connection, suitable device and accurate contact details. Where the platform is materially unavailable due to our systems, we will take reasonable restorative action and provide appropriate extension or other legal
remedy where required. We are not automatically responsible for a failure caused solely by an unrelated personal device or internet connection, without limiting statutory rights.
Credentials must be kept confidential. We may temporarily restrict access to prevent material misuse or security compromise, using reasonable and proportionate processes.
13. Personal data and recordings
Learner registration, billing, attendance, practice performance and support information are processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Live sessions will not be recorded or reused with identifiable participants unless we provide an appropriate notice and lawful basis. Learners should not disclose sensitive personal immigration facts during group training without considering privacy implications.
14. Complaints and legal rights
Course queries, concerns and refund requests should be sent to info@immigrationvisaexpert.com and may be escalated using our published Complaints Handling Procedure. The IAA regulates immigration advice within its jurisdiction; it is not generally the consumer redress body for standalone unregulated educational purchases.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud or other non-excludable matters, or restricts rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations. A legal remedy for faulty digital content or unsatisfactory services remains available regardless of a no-guarantee-of-exam-success statement.
15. Governing law and amendments
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to consumers’ mandatory legal protections and rights to bring proceedings in other competent courts. Changes for future bookings will be published as needed. An existing booked course’s material terms will not be changed unfairly or retrospectively.
