Global Business Mobility Visa Categories

  • UK Senior or Specialist Worker Visa (GBM): This path is intended for high-ranking senior managers or specialist employees with specialized skills from abroad, who are being transferred to a UK company that has a connection with their current employer to work for their UK business. This route is a replacement of the previous Intra-Company Transfer route. It's an ideal way for businesses to leverage global talent for their UK operations.

  • UK Graduate Trainee Visa (GBM): This route is aimed at fresh graduates on the fast track to senior management or specialist roles, this route offers the unique opportunity to gain work experience in the UK as part of their work placement training program. This route substitutes the Intra-Company Graduate Trainee route.

  • UK Expansion Worker (GBM): This route is tailored for key employees involved in taking their company global, this path supports senior managers or specialists assigned to work on establishing (branch or subsidiary) or expanding their business's presence in the UK. This route replaces the sole representative provisions of the Representative of an Overseas Business route.

  • UK Secondment Worker Visa (GBM): This route is designed for individuals either employed by a foreign service provider or self-employed professionals overseas, needing to deliver services in the UK under international trade agreements. It facilitates the global exchange of services, allowing professionals to work on projects that enhance bilateral trade ties.

  • UK Service Supplier Visa (GBM): This route is designed specifically for employees being seconded to the UK as part of significant contracts or investments by their overseas employer. This path ensures that businesses can support their UK operations with the right talent for specific projects or periods.

Generic Eligibility Criteria and Conditions for Global Business Mobility Visa

  • Holders of the Global Business Mobility Visa can work for their sponsor in the specified job, study, bring family members / dependents if eligible, do voluntary work, and travel abroad and return to the UK. Global Business Mobility Visa Application Process

  • The visa application process varies slightly depending on whether they are applying from outside the UK, extending their stay, or switching from a different visa. The application fees, healthcare surcharge, and personal savings requirements must also be met.

Global Business Mobility Visa Duration

  • The duration of stay allowed under this visa depends on the specific route, the length of the assignment, and the applicant's salary, but it generally allows a stay of up to 5 years, extendable under certain conditions. Importantly, time spent in the UK under these routes counts towards the maximum total stay allowed for Senior and Specialist Worker visas, which is up to 9 years for those paid £73,900 a year or more, and 5 years in any 6-year period for those paid less.

  • It's important to note that these mobility routes do not lead directly to permanent residency. The time spent under these visas does not count towards the residency period required for settling in the UK through other immigration routes.
