Specialist guidance for exceptional individuals, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, innovators, researchers, artists, sport professionals and families exploring Maltese citizenship through merit-based naturalisation.
Useful if you are unsure whether your profile may fit Malta’s merit-based citizenship framework.
Malta Citizenship by Merit is a highly selective merit-based naturalisation route for individuals whose background, achievements, contribution or future value may be of exceptional importance to Malta or to humanity. It is not a standard investment migration product and should not be treated as a guaranteed citizenship route.
The current framework focuses on exceptional service, exceptional contribution, or exceptional interest. This may include recognised achievements or meaningful contributions in areas such as science, research, technology, entrepreneurship, job creation, sport, culture, arts and philanthropy. Each case is assessed individually, and the final decision remains discretionary.
Immigration Visa Expert Immigration Visa Experts can help you understand whether your profile is worth exploring, how your achievements may be positioned, what evidence may be required, and whether you should proceed with a detailed Malta citizenship planning consultation before engaging a competent Maltese professional or authorised representative where required.
These points give a high-level overview before you decide whether to request a detailed assessment.
The route may be relevant for individuals who can show a strong record of achievement, meaningful public value, exceptional contribution, or a credible forward-looking plan that may benefit Malta or humanity. This is not designed for ordinary investors looking for a quick second passport.
A strong Malta Citizenship by Merit case normally needs more than wealth, business ownership or general success. The application must be capable of explaining why the applicant’s naturalisation may be justified on the basis of exceptional service, exceptional contribution, or exceptional interest to Malta or humanity.
We can review your background, achievements, family position and Malta objectives before you commit time and cost to a full application strategy.
The exact document list depends on the applicant’s background, nationality, family members, achievements, proposed contribution and residence planning. At the early stage, the priority is to build a clear profile and evidence map rather than simply collecting generic documents.
The process is selective and should be approached carefully. A weak or poorly framed proposal may damage the prospects of a case. The early strategy should focus on whether the applicant has a credible basis for merit-based naturalisation.
Residence planning is an important part of the Malta Citizenship by Merit route. After approval in principle, applicants are generally expected to prove at least eight months of residence in Malta, hold proof of title to adequate residential property, demonstrate their exceptional service or contribution, confirm knowledge of Maltese or English, and provide evidence of ties created with Malta.
Because the route is merit-based and discretionary, applicants should not approach residence as a formality. The stronger strategy is to build a coherent Malta connection that supports the wider narrative of contribution, credibility and long-term engagement.
Our role is to provide a practical, evidence-led assessment of your profile, identify strengths and gaps, and help you understand whether Malta Citizenship by Merit may be a realistic route or whether another citizenship or residence option may be better suited.
Whether you need an initial view, a detailed document review, or full strategic planning, we can guide you clearly and honestly.
